Civil Rights and Patient Choice In Vermont
My father was a civil rights activist during the 1960s who used the power of Vermont's commitment to freedom to fight beside Dr. King to help bring greater equality in our country.I grew up with those ideals around my kitchen table, which made it easy for me to advocate before any other candidate in this race for equality in marriage and the freedom to make end of life choices. I will bring this commitment to freedom and equality to my administration.
As Governor, my administration will:
- Enact legislation that allows Vermonters to have control over end of life decisions. See my editorial on this issue here: http://www.mattdunne.com/news/vt-should-pass-death-with-dignity-legislation-in-2011
- Defend gay marriage as a right in the state of Vermont.
- Support transgender equality legislation.
- Increase resources to reduce discrimination in our schools and workplaces as our state becomes more diverse.
