Senator Jim Jeffords and Liz Jeffords Support Dunne for Lt. Governor

On Sunday afternoon, Liz Jeffords, wife of Senator Jim Jeffords, joined Matt Dunne and his service politics campaign for a service project in Rutland.

Mrs. Jeffords and Matt spent the afternoon with a group of volunteers cleaning up the neighborhood around Mt. St. Joseph Academy. They took a break at a nearby park to hold a press conference, where Mrs. Jeffords endorsed Matt's candidacy for Lt. Governor.

“My husband Jim Jeffords and I are supporting Matt Dunne for Lt. Governor. Matt is an inspiration. He brings experience, leadership and know-how to the office,” said Mrs. Jeffords.

Matt has made service politics an integral part of his campaign for Lt. Governor, joining groups of volunteers to do community service projects all over the state in order to give back to communities and bring new people into the political process. His campaign has participated in over 20 service projects, including pumpkin carving at a nursing home, re-organizing a food-shelf and building a mountain bike trail.

“Service politics is an example of how Matt uses leadership and experience to bring people together, even on a cold windy day like this, to do community projects. Matt is asking the people of the state of Vermont, 'What can you do for your state?' He brings out the best in people,” said Mrs. Jeffords.

Matt said he was honored to receive the support of Senator and Mrs. Jeffords. “It is an incredible honor to have the support of two people with such long histories of distinguished service to Vermont.”

VT Troopers Endorse Matt!

This morning at a press conference at the Montpelier Police Department, the Vermont Troopers Federation endorsed Matt Dunne's candidacy for Lieutenant Governor.

Mike O'Neil, the President of Vermont Troopers, cited Matt's strong record and hard work on behalf of issues affecting state police, the Vermont Troopers Federation and the safety of Vermont citizens.

"The board of the foundation voted unanimously to endorse Matt Dunne because we believe Matt will be a strong Lieutenant Governor who will work hard to improve the working conditions and benefits of troopers and improve the safety of the citizens of the state of Vermont."

During Matt's time in the legislature, he has been a strong advocate for state troopers, including making sure they have the equipment they need, especially vehicle replacement, working hard to advocate for a fair retirement plan for troopers, and going against the party to oppose the Good Time legislation in order to support transparency in the sentencing process.

"I am honored to have the support of the Vermont Troopers. As a full-time Lieutenant Governor, I plan to continue my strong advocacy on behalf of Vermont law enforcement, with a particular focus on expanding our police force to make sure our state has 24-hour coverage," said Dunne.

The Vermont Troopers Foundation, Inc. is made up entirely of uniformed, investigative and administrative personnel holding the ranks of Trooper, Corporal, and Sergeant within the Vermont State Police.
